In this weeks lecture we learnt about platforms, permission and ideologies in technological convergence.
The thing that firstly struck my attention was how far technology has advanced regarding telephones. How they use to be these huge things that horses were once used to carry them, then as times moved forward the devices became smaller. Now we live in a world where our phones are a part of us and we are “always on, always connected.” (Mitew, 2016).
What surprised me this week are the differences between the Iphone and Android phones. So the Iphone is a closed device which means that the apple has complete control over the platforms, apps, content and the user. Where as Android is an open device which means that people can access and change the code, more or less the user is in control.
Personally I’m all for android especially now that I now that I know I can modify the code and just learnt how to make my android look like an IOS thanks to youtube, what’s your preference?
